My Favorite Place in the Philippines (so far)
If you’re reading this — hey! I’m Sunny Boy, and this is my first ever blog. And what better way to start than by sharing my favorite place in the Philippines (so far): San Vicente, Palawan.
I’ve traveled all over Palawan — from North to South. I’ve seen towering cliffs, secret coves, and untouched beaches in places most tourists don’t even know exist. But San Vicente… that one felt different. That one felt like home.
After living in El Nido for six months, I hopped around with my girlfriend — to Siargao, Surigao del Norte, then Cebu. When she flew back home before Christmas, I messaged our friend Arlene who runs a small resort in San Vicente. I asked if I could spend the holidays there. She welcomed me in.
I spent Christmas and New Year’s with her family. Days later, I decided:
I’ll build a little shack by the beach.
And I did. Right there, on the longest beach in the country — ( wow, still can’t believe I did that).
I helped out at the resort in exchange for my free accommodation, (and sometimes free meals hehe). I made friends with the locals. Everyday I’ll play with the kids — Biboy, Bogs, Dodong, and Aldren. They taught me how to climb a coconut tree… and even how to open one with a machete. (Imagine kids teaching me how to frkin’ use a machete!)
The craziest part? Arlene actually let me build my own beach hut.
I learned how to plant a tomato and eggplant.
I started meditating everyday.
I swam, sat, stared at the sea for hours.
I wasn’t chasing anything. I just was.
It was the first time I truly experienced peace.
And yeah, I healed in that place.
I think that’s why it became my favorite.
Because that’s where I quietly manifested everything I have now.
Sunny Boy. This art. This life. That Boy Somewhere.
It all started here.
San Vicente is more than a place.
It’s the feeling I’m always trying to paint.
It’s home.
Have you ever found a place that healed you?
I’d love to hear your story. Leave a comment or message me.
